Description: Unlike the great sorrow of Amadeus Mozart’s unfinished requiem or the operatic and dramatic intensity of the requiem by Guiseppe Verdi, the requiem of Johannes Brahms has been called the “requiem of consolation.” Brahms uses text from the Holy Scriptures emphasizing everlasting joy and the resting peace of departed souls.
